Father General encourages prayers for the victims of COVID-19

On 25 June, Father Arturo Sosa wrote to the Provincials and other leaders of the Society. The Superior General invited Jesuits to pray for all those who, connected to the Society of Jesus in one way or another, have died from the COVID-19 illness.

He encouraged the Provinces and communities of the Society to continue to organize moments of prayer to present to the Lord those Jesuits, their family members, friends and benefactors of the Society who died during this pandemic.

Stressing that the General Curia is not necessarily aware of the cause of death of each of the Jesuits who have died in recent months, he nevertheless provided a list of 46 companions whose cause of death has been officially attributed to the COVID-19.

May the Lord welcome them and may our solidarity be strengthened by prayer in this time of trial.
